The Global Clean Development Foundation, referred to here as GCDF, we, us, or our, respects your privacy and is committed to protecting the personal data you share with us. This policy explains what we collect when you register your interest or contact us, why we collect it, how we look after it, and the rights you have over it.
GCDF is currently a concept under development. At this stage we mainly gather expressions of interest and feasibility information from people and organisations who want to help shape the platform. We handle that information in line with the UAE Personal Data Protection Law, known as the PDPL, and its supporting regulations.
1. Who is responsible for your data
GCDF is the data controller for the personal data described in this policy. That means we decide what information is collected and how it is used. If you have any question about this policy or about how we handle your data, you can reach us at info@globalcdf.com.
2. What personal data we collect
We only collect information that you choose to give us, mostly through the registration form or when you email us. Depending on what you fill in, this may include:
- Contact details, such as your name, email address, phone or WhatsApp number, and country or location.
- Professional details, such as your organisation, company, or role, when you provide them.
- Interest and feasibility details, such as the type of participant you are, the areas you are interested in, your solar situation and system size, your preferred timeline, and your motivations.
- Anything else you tell us, for example a message, question, or note you add to the form or an email.
- Consent and preferences, such as whether you agreed to this notice and whether you asked to receive our newsletter.
We do not ask you for sensitive personal data, and we ask that you do not send us any. We also do not knowingly collect data from anyone under the age of 18.
3. Why we use your data and our legal basis
Under the PDPL we need a valid reason to process your personal data. We rely on the following:
- Your consent. When you submit the form or sign up for updates, you consent to us using your details to follow up, to keep you informed, and to include your responses in our feasibility analysis.
- Our legitimate interest in understanding demand, improving the concept, and building a platform that reflects what participants actually want. We balance this against your rights and only use data in ways you would reasonably expect.
In practice, we use your data to respond to you and confirm your registration, to gauge interest and shape the platform and token rewards, to send you updates if you opted in, and to keep basic records. We do not use your data for automated decision-making that produces legal or similarly significant effects, and we do not sell your personal data.
4. Who we share your data with
We keep your data confidential and share it only where it is necessary and lawful. This may include trusted service providers who help us operate, for example hosting, email, and form or survey tools, who act on our instructions and are bound to protect your data. We may also share data where the law requires it, such as a valid request from a competent authority, or to protect our legal rights.
We do not share your personal data with third parties for their own marketing.
5. International transfers
Some of the providers we use may store or process data outside the United Arab Emirates. Where that happens, we take steps to make sure your data receives a level of protection consistent with the PDPL, for example by using providers in countries with adequate protection or by putting appropriate safeguards in place.
6. How long we keep your data
We keep your personal data only for as long as we need it for the purposes described in this policy, or for as long as you are happy to hear from us. If the GCDF concept does not move forward, or if you ask us to delete your data, we will remove it from our active records, keeping only what we are required to keep by law.
7. How we protect your data
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to keep your data safe, including access controls and secure, encrypted connections. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your information and to limit who can see it to the people who genuinely need it.
8. Your rights under the PDPL
Subject to the conditions in the law, you have the right to:
- Ask what personal data we hold about you and request a copy of it.
- Ask us to correct data that is inaccurate or incomplete.
- Ask us to delete your data, or to restrict or stop how we use it.
- Ask us to transfer your data to you or to another controller in a structured, machine-readable format, where this applies.
- Object to certain uses of your data, including direct marketing.
- Withdraw your consent at any time, without affecting anything we did before you withdrew it.
To exercise any of these rights, email us at info@globalcdf.com. We will respond within the period allowed by the law. You will not usually be charged, and we may need to verify your identity first. If you are not satisfied with how we handle your request, you can lodge a complaint with the UAE Data Office.
9. Marketing and unsubscribing
If you asked to receive our newsletter or updates, you can opt out at any time by emailing us or by using the unsubscribe option in any message we send. We will stop sending marketing to you promptly once you ask.
10. Cookies and analytics
This website is a simple, mostly static page and does not use tracking or advertising cookies. If we add analytics or other cookies in future, we will update this policy and, where required, ask for your consent first.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the concept develops or as the law changes. When we do, we will revise the date at the top of this page, and for significant changes we will take reasonable steps to let you know.
12. Contact us
